This article is the operator's manual for the JUCY Coaster Gen1 campervan. It covers starting the vehicle, windows and blinds, the 12-volt electrical system, fresh and grey water, portable toilet cassette, portable gas stove, tap and sink, fridge, lights, USB chargers, bed setup, storage, and refuelling.
Need-to-know
- Fuel type: Diesel only. The fuel cap is marked "DIESEL". If filled with unleaded fuel, water, or AdBlue - do not start the engine. Call JUCY Roadside Assistance.
- Daily drive time: 4–6 hours per day to keep the domestic 12-volt battery charged (powers water pump, fridge, and interior lights).
- 12-volt panel: Located at the rear of the vehicle in the kitchen area under the sink. Push the yellow switch up to turn on. Press the red button to turn off. Must be switched on for water pump, lights, and USB chargers to operate.
- Gas stove: Portable butane cooker. Indoor use only on the kitchen stove. Maximum 15 minutes continuous use. Not designed for pans larger than 200mm. Remove cartridge when not in use.
- Toilet: Portable cassette toilet. Must be emptied and cleaned before returning the vehicle to the depot.
- Handbrake: Located on the left-hand side of the driver's seat. Do not forget to disengage before driving.
- Emergency contact: JUCY Roadside Assistance - call for wrong fuel or any red dash light.
1. Description of keys
Ignition key: Use the ignition key to start your vehicle.
2. Vehicle equipment
Fire extinguisher
Each vehicle is equipped with a dry chemical fire extinguisher, selected to address both Type B fires (grease and liquids) and Type C fires (electrical). The fire extinguisher is located under the sink.
To deploy the extinguisher:
- Grasp the ring at the top of the bottle.
- Direct the nozzle towards the top of the flames.
- Press the lever down firmly.
- Guide the nozzle from side to side across the base of the flames
3. Starting the vehicle
The gear stick must be in PARK and your foot on the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to start.
- The dashboard will display a 'P' indicating that the vehicle is in park.
- Start the vehicle using the ignition key.
- With your foot still on the brake pedal, pull the gear stick down into the 'D' position. The dashboard will display a 'D' indicating drive.
Handbrake:
- To disengage: Pull the handbrake down. A red exclamation mark will disappear from the dashboard.
- To engage: Pull the handbrake up. A red exclamation mark will appear on the dashboard.
Note: Handbrake is on the left-hand side of the driver seat. Do not forget to disengage the handbrake before you drive.
4. Windows and blinds
The vehicle is equipped with privacy curtains for the rear window and side window, as well as flyscreen curtains for the front windows. To attach the curtains, locate the correct curtain and magnetically attach it to the metal surface of the window surround.
5. 12-volt electrical system
Your vehicle has two batteries:
- Engine battery - located under the driver's seat.
- Domestic battery - located in the rear of the cabin.
The domestic battery operates the water pump, fridge, and interior lights. It is charged by the alternator when the vehicle is being driven.
The 12-volt electrical panel is located at the rear of the vehicle in the kitchen area under the sink.
- To turn on: Push the yellow switch (Diagram A) up until it clicks.
- To turn off: Press the red button (Diagram B) and the yellow switch will flick down.
This panel operates the water pump and lights and must be turned on at all times to operate any device on the 12-volt system.
Important: It is recommended that the vehicle is driven for 4–6 hours a day so the domestic battery continues to power the 12-volt system.
6. Fresh water tank
The freshwater tank is located under the bed and dining area on the right side.
To fill the freshwater tank:
- Unscrew the compartment marked "Fresh water only".
- Remove the cap from the water inlet.
- Place the end of the water hose into the tank and connect the hose.
Important tips:
- Do not use too much pressure - the tank must be vented while filling.
- If you get an air bubble, remove the hose, reinsert it, and fill slowly again.
- The tank is full when water starts to overflow from the water inlet.
7. Grey water tank
The grey water holding tank collects wastewater from the kitchen sink.
To empty the grey water tank:
- Collect the grey water hose from the storage compartment.
- Connect the hose to the outlet. Make sure it is firmly attached.
- Place the other end of the hose into the dump station disposal opening.
- Open the tank by pulling the lever located on the side of the outlet.
- Once the grey water is empty, close the lever, remove the hose, and stow it away in the storage compartment.
If the grey water tank becomes obstructed:
- Insert a hose into the grey water outlet as far as it reaches.
- Turn on the hose to its highest pressure setting and direct the flow of water into the tank until it reaches full capacity.
- Withdraw the hose to facilitate the flow of grey water.
- Repeat if needed until the obstruction is cleared.
8. Portable toilet cassette
It is highly recommended to regularly empty the toilet cassette. It is mandatory to empty and clean it before returning the vehicle to the depot.
To empty the toilet cassette:
- Empty the toilet cassette when required.
- Rinse the cassette thoroughly and repeat the emptying process.
- Add a toilet chemical along with half to one litre of water.
9. Portable gas stove
The vehicle is equipped with a portable butane gas stove, found in the kitchen compartments inside a black carry case.
- Inside the vehicle, the cooker is to be used only on the kitchen stove.
- It can be used outside on a side table.
- The cooker is designed for very short periods - no longer than 15 minutes at a time.
- This cooker is not designed for use with pans larger than 200mm.
To start the stove:
- Remove the gas cooker from the black carry case and place it on a flat surface.
- Open the cartridge cover and place the gas cartridge in.
- Turn the ignition knob to OFF and set the cartridge lock lever to UNLOAD.
- Open the cartridge cover, slide the gas cartridge into the compartment, top end first, with its notch facing up.
- Align the cartridge collar notch with the locator tab on the gas cooker.
- Push and turn the knob anticlockwise past the OFF position until a click is heard.

Note: If the burner fails to light, immediately turn the ignition knob to the OFF position and restart again.
Controlling the flame: Turn the ignition knob between HIGH and LOW.
To shut off:
- Turn the ignition knob to OFF to cut the fuel supply.
- Wait until the flame is fully extinguished.
- Raise the cartridge lever to UNLOAD.
- Remove the gas cartridge from the compartment.
Do not leave the gas bottle inside the cooker when not in use.
10. Tap and sink
The vehicle comes equipped with a water system. To operate the tap, ensure the yellow switch on the main control panel is flicked up and the orange switch located on the wall in the dining area is on and illuminated. Hold the tap handle down for the water to release.
11. Fridge
The fridge operates via the 12-volt system. To operate the fridge, ensure the yellow switch on the main control panel is flicked up.
Important: It is recommended that the vehicle is driven for 4–6 hours a day so the domestic battery continues to power the 12-volt system.
12. Lights
To operate the cabin lights, turn on using the light switch.
- Switching to the left turns the light off.
- Switching to the middle allows the light to turn on when the doors are opened.
- Switching to the right turns the light on.
13. USB chargers
The vehicle is equipped with 2 USB power points and 1 USB car charger in the dining area. These run off the 12-volt battery and will only work if the main power button is switched on.
14. Bed
The vehicle is equipped with one double bed that also serves as the dining area during the day.
To make the bed:
| 1. Remove the seat squabs off the seat base. | |
| 2. Remove the loose plywood from the left and right-hand side. | |
| 3. Open the hinged seat base to the vertical position against the tabletop. | |
| 4. The bed base should now look as per photo. | |
| 5. Bend the top part of the plywood down on the left and right-hand side of the seat base. | |
| 6. Lift the middle table up and tuck the left and right seat base underneath the middle table. Press down on the middle table to check it is secured. | |
| 7. Place the left and right-hand loose plywood (with cut-outs) between the seat-back alloy strip and on top of the vertical section, matching the corresponding cut-outs to hold the panel in place. | |
| 8. Make sure the plywood is correctly placed, flat, and secured. Put weight on the left and right-hand side of each plywood so it sits firm. | |
| 9. The bed base is now secured. Ensure the sink is covered and wiped down before placing bed squabs on top. | |
| 10. Place the rear bed base on the kitchen bench. | |
| 11. With the rear bed base squab firmly on the kitchen bench, place the rest of the bed squabs onto the bed. | |
| 12. Place the remaining 3 bed squabs onto the bed — ensure the squab with the 4 Velcro tabs is placed in the middle. | |
| 13. Place the middle bed squab in the middle with the 4 Velcro tabs flat and firm on the middle part of the bed. | |
| 14. Place the left and right-hand bed squabs onto each side of the bed and secure all 4 Velcros together so the bed squabs are all in one. | |
| 15. Once all bed squabs are firmly placed and secured, the bed is ready. |
15. Storage
The vehicle has a dedicated storage area under the left seat of the bed and dining area, and under the seat in the cabin area.
16. Diesel fuel
The vehicle accepts diesel fuel only. DO NOT refill with any other fuel or fluid.
- The diesel tank cap is marked with "DIESEL" and can be opened by unscrewing the cap.
- The fuel filling location is located next to the passenger door.
- Once filled, place the fuel cap on the inlet and turn it to lock.
Important: If you accidentally fill the vehicle with unleaded fuel, water, or AdBlue - do not start the engine. Call JUCY Roadside Assistance immediately.
